Profoto B1 500 AirTTL - are the latest gadgets that we've acquired in late August 2014. We shan't go through with any of specifics / technical contents of these gadgets as you can find all you need to know on: http://profoto.com/int/products/off-camera-flash/b1-off-camera-flash/item/b1-500-airttl#technical-specification.
The idea behind the acquisition of this pair of lights is to have the ability to create more cinematic, punchy and contrasty pictures by having enough juice in the flashes to overpower the sun during midday. At night, these flashes will pack enough power to light up subjects and huge areas of back/foregrounds efficiently. Best part of all, the flashes are wireless - which is a huge plus for on location assignments.
The last and most important reason that we have decided to invest in the Profoto B1 is the capability of TTL (Through The Lens) Metering - having this function allows the photographer to concentrate on shooting knowing that the exposure will be spot-on majority of the time thereby saving time during post processing.
Air Remote TTL for Nikon (TTL-N) - Finally after a year's wait, Profoto has finally released (15/09/2014) the Air Remote for Nikon. Without this remote, we wouldn't be able to take full advantage of the Profoto B1 flash's TTL function - that's why we are really thankful to Profoto Singapore for loaning us their only beta unit remote to test out for a couple of days. Boy I must say that it is a real beauty having the remote sit atop the Nikon D4 camera. The remote itself looks clutter free and the controls are so intuitive and easy to use - Imagine having the ease of controlling everything on the wireless Profoto B1 flashes without having to physically move to adjust the power settings; really make things more efficient and productive for the photographer.
Well, these equipments don't come cheap and some have already asked us why we've invested so much into these lights. Our response was relatively simple: With today's clients getting more demanding with their expectations, photographers like us have to continuously evolve and improve. Same goes for the company - our equipments have to constantly evolve and improve to keep up with the demands of the market. Else we will be left behind.
Below are a couple of test shots of the BMW C 600 Sport motorcycle taken with the Profoto B1. Thanks for reading and have a lovely day!
